Hear
Listen closely to the target speech sound.
The LipiLeap approach
A clear, connected learning routine that brings sound, movement, letters and meaning together—one manageable step at a time.
Sound + symbol + practice
A planned way to connect the sounds we say with the letters we read.
Systematic means teaching sound–letter connections in a deliberate order, building on earlier learning. Synthetic means blending the individual sounds together to read a whole word.
Children also learn to segment spoken words into sounds to support spelling. Carefully matched reading practice helps them apply the patterns they have already met.
The proposed LipiLeap framework
This developing routine is intended to make each new connection clear, active and memorable. It is a design framework, not a validated outcome claim.
Listen closely to the target speech sound.
Notice how the mouth moves to make it.
Look at the letter or letters that represent it.
Connect the sound with its written form.
Put familiar letters together to make words.
Join the sounds together to read the word.
Use that knowledge in sentences and stories.
Revisit learning until it becomes familiar.
A small example
After these sound–letter connections have been taught, an adult can model how to join them together.
Say each sound. Blend them together.
